Police investigating after shots fired incident in Sarasota
SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -The Sarasota Police Department is investigating an incident near the intersection of University and Desoto. The roadway was shut down near Airport Circle after reports of a shooting in the area. Officers managed to find shell casings but no one remained on scene so police have no victims. They are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward to detectives.

Police respond to Thursday night bomb threat at Selby Library
The Selby Library in downtown Sarasota was an active crime scene for more than two hours Thursday evening because of a bomb threat. Shortly before 8 p.m. Todd Williams, 57, entered the library at 1331 First St. and allegedly said he had explosive materials in his backpack and threatened to harm others. The Sarasota Police Department’s Explosive Materials Unit responded to investigate the backpack and determined it was free of any explosive devices.
