VENICE — A Venice-area woman is free on $31,000 bond after being arrested for threatening by text and in person to kill someone.

Adriana Lerman Schneider, 43, 100 block of Wayforest Drive, is charged with written or electronic threat to kill or bodily harm another (domestic), fleeing to elude the police and resisting an officer without violence. The first two charges are felonies.

According to Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavits, Schneider sent the victim a text message on Saturday stating: “The next time I show up at that f------ house I’m going to blow your f------ brains out. … I have a f------ real gun and I know how to use it. … This isn’t a joke. I will f------ blow your brains out ….”

She arrived at the victim’s residence shortly thereafter, the affidavits stated, and started kicking the garage door and throwing things at it. Then, she hit a glass panel next to the front door with a shovel, shattering the glass, authorities stated.

“The entire time the defendant was screaming, ‘I’m going to kill you,’” the affidavits stated.

The victim was inside the house with the victim’s children as this was happening, according to the affidavits.

The victim told Schneider as she approached the front door that law enforcement was being called, so she got into her vehicle and drove away.

A deputy spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop after identifying Schneider from a photo, the affidavits stated. However, before another sheriff’s vehicle could block her, she drove away, hitting a patrol vehicle in the process, according to reports.

Schneider was seen at a traffic light a short distance away and her vehicle was blocked from moving. She was made to exit her vehicle at gunpoint and placed under arrest, according to the affidavits.

According to court records, Schneider was arrested for domestic battery in 2023 but the charge was dismissed after she completed a pretrial intervention program. Two subsequent charges of violating pretrial release conditions for a domestic violence protection injunction weren’t prosecuted.

Schneider’s arraignment on the current charges is Aug. 30.
