Mary Magdalen (Schendt) Zastrow of Venice Florida passed peacefully at home on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the age of 92.

Born December 10, 1931, in Milwaukee Wisconsin. She was the second of three children of William G. Schendt and Frances (Dudenhoefer) Schendt. She was raised in Milwaukee with her brothers William (Bill) Schendt and Richard (Dick) Schendt. She married Raymond Charles Zastrow in June 1955.

Mary completed a nursing degree at Alverno College and worked as a visiting nurse. She earned her master's degree from Marquette University where she taught nursing for many years. She was quite sociable and enjoyed attending and hosting parties at their home in Wauwatosa and later North Lake.

She was an excellent chef and seamstress. She loved being with her quilt circle friends at St George. She developed a shared love for golf and played couples golf with Ray at Blue Mound, Chenequa, and the Plantation Country Clubs.

Mary was the last of her immediate family to pass and she was preceded in death by her husband after sixty-two years of marriage. She is survived by their four children and their spouses: Raymond J Zastrow and Mary Kay (Jankowski) Zastrow of Mequon Wisconsin, Joseph F Zastrow and Caroline (Berg) Zastrow of Mooresville North Carolina, Lawrence R Zastrow and Frank Printz of Lakewood Ranch Florida and Barbara (Zastrow) Letendre and Mike Letendre of Englewood Florida.

She is also survived by two nieces and two nephews as well as ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her constant companion dog, Faith.

Faith could have been Mary's name. She was a faithful servant of Jesus and she remained very active at Our Lady of Lourdes where she attended daily mass until her health disallowed travel.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes in Venice, Florida on Friday, August 30 at 10am. A Celebration of Life is to follow. Burial date to be determined but will be held at St Charles Borromeo in Hartland Wisconsin where she will join Ray for eternity.

Her last days were spent homebound. The family thanks her attentive care team. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity or Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements. To send a condolence or memory please visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com.
