On, Saturday, June 22nd, winter will make a fleeting reappearance at Jay Peak Resort, Vermont, during the ski area's inaugural Solstice Sessions event.

Held in the Stateside Amphitheater, the concert series stars Dopapod, Lazy Bird, The High Breaks, and DJ Local Dork, alongside a summer terrain park with boxes and rails serviced by the Stateside Moving Carpet.

To build the park, Jay Peak followed the example of Trollhaugen , Wisconsin, harvesting and stockpiling a 10-foot-high pile of snow from this past winter. Ahead of the event, Jay Peaks' Parks Crew will move the snow and shape it into a skiable rail garden.

While summer skiing sessions facilitated by harvested snow are becoming increasingly popular throughout North America, Jay Peak is hosting the only such event in Vermont. Upping the ante is the inclusion of several skateboarding features, which are also available during Solstice Sessions.

According to a recent press release, Jay Peak’s Event Manager, Ted Fleischer, took the event's "concept from good to great by adding what is, essentially, a mini-music festival featuring local, or local at heart, artists and bands providing a live soundtrack for the terrain and skate park elements.”

General attendance tickets cost $30 in advance ($40 at the door), and access to the summer terrain park costs $50 for a one-hour increment. $100 tickets are available for those who want to ski for the four-hour duration of the summer session. Jay Peak noted that the terrain park tickets are "very limited."

The musicians play from noon to 11 p.m., and the summer terrain park is accessible between noon and 4 p.m. to those who bought tickets. Food and beverages are on offer, too, via the Stateside Amphitheater's amenities.

“Help us Pass the Jay by bringing your unique approach and vibration, which, really, is what will make the event a success,” the Solstice Sessions press release reads.
