Stolen vehicle pursuit in Tracy ends with SWAT intervention
TRACY, California - A stolen vehicle pursuit in Tracy ended with the intervention of the SWAT team on August 22, 2024, according to the Tracy Police Department.Around 3:08 p.m., Tracy PD officers responded to a Flock ALPR alert of a stolen vehicle from Stockton that had entered the city. Patrol officers located the vehicle near 11th Street and Corral Hollow Road and attempted to stop it. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Sofia Fermin of Stockton, refused to stop and led officers on a short pursuit.Officers were able to disable the stolen vehicle using a PIT maneuver at Lauriana Lane and Tennis Lane, but Fermin still refused to surrender. After unsuccessful negotiations, the SWAT team deployed chemical agents and a police K9 to take her into custody. Fermin was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and later booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for numerous offenses surrounding the incident, according to the Tracy Police Department.
