Triple Shooting in Syracuse: Three Injured in Stone Court
(WNY News Now) – Syracuse, NY – On Sunday, July 21, 2024, at approximately 8:06 p.m., Syracuse Police Officers responded to multiple gunshots detected by ShotSpotter at Stone Court in the James Geddes Housing complex. Upon arrival, officers found two female victims with apparent gunshot wounds to their legs. Both victims, aged 27 and 16, were transported to University Hospital and are in stable condition, expected to survive.
Governor Hochul Awards Key Contract for Syracuse’s Transformative I-81 Project
(WNY News Now) – Syracuse – Governor Kathy Hochul announced the award of the fourth construction contract for the transformative Interstate 81 Viaduct Project. The award of the $313.5 million contract to CNY Alliance will begin construction on the Community Grid along streets on Syracuse’s eastside, in the former 15th Ward neighborhood. The Community Grid will replace the elevated highway in Downtown Syracuse and will relieve existing traffic congestion challenges in the city, while improving access to and from the interstate highway network and key destinations, including the downtown business districts, area hospitals, and higher education institutions.
