Lincoln, N.Y. — One woman has been killed and a man seriously injured when a house exploded Wednesday night in the town of Lincoln in Madison County. The explosion was at 4621 Burleson Road, Samantha Field, a spokesperson for the county confirmed. The blast was reported at 6:40 p.m., she said.

ORISKANY, NY — The New York State police hosted and were among several groups participating in the 2024 “Raven’s Challenge,” the world’s largest annual training exercise for public safety bomb squads and military explosive ordnance disposal teams, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Friday, July 26. Held at the the State Preparedness Training Center (SPTC) in Oriskany, Raven’s Challenge brought in bomb technicians and military personnel representing various places around New York State, as well as the U.S. Capitol Police; the continent (including Canada) and the world, including Germany, Poland and Ukraine. The participants engaged in training on response tactics for improvised explosive devices. The U.S. Army funds the Raven’s Challenge, with coordination from the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and partner agencies including the Army, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation and state and local law enforcement agencies.
