Lawrence County deputies investigating stabbing in Verona

UPDATE 7/31/24 4:27 p.m. – Randall Lindy Conklin, 25, of Verona, is in custody on alleged charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Conklin is being held at the Lawrence County jail with no bond set.

VERONA, Mo. — The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) is helping police in Verona investigate a stabbing that left a man dead.

According to a release from LCSO , deputies were called to assist the Verona Police Department (VPD) on July 30 after a possible stabbing on Washington Street.

A man was found dead inside a vehicle with an apparent stab wound when deputies arrived.

Another man was found at the same location and taken into custody, but no charges have been filed yet.

LCSO says an autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for today (July 31).
