Football: West Essex Loses to Old Tappan, 19-7
OLD TAPPAN, NJ -- West Essex dug a deep hole in the opening quarter and couldn't climb out despite three good defensive quarters the rest of the way, as the Knights lost, 19-7, to Old Tappan on the opening night of the football season on Friday. Old Tappan returned an interception for a long touchdown to take a 6-0 lead, then Zachary Miceli passed for two TDs as Old Tappan opened a 19-0 lead heading into the second quarter.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Plagued by turnovers early in the game, the Knights' offense mounted an extended drive in the third quarter, moving 96 yards in 11 plays to score on Max Garcia's 10-yard run with nine seconds to go in the third quarter. Robert Warmington kicked the extra point to bring West Essex within 12 points going into what turned out to be a scoreless fourth quarter. Garcia finished with 58 yards on seven carries to lead the West Essex ground game, which produced 144 total yards on 35 carries. West Essex totaled 258 yards from scrimmage. Old Tappan had 261 yards. Man accused of distributing cocaine in Morris County town
MORRISTOWN, NJ (Morris County) – A man was arrested for allegedly distributing cocaine in Morristown, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll. Alex Bravo-Castro was charged with first-degree possession with intent to distribute cocaine in an amount of five ounces or more, first-degree distribution of cocaine in an amount of five ounces or more, second-degree conspiracy to distribute cocaine in an amount of five ounces or more, and third-degree possession of cocaine, Carroll said.
