BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — A Bearcat baseball player is now on course for the Big Apple. BU’s very own Nick Roselli has been drafted by the New York Mets with the 32rd pick of the 2024 MLB Amateur Draft.

The 21-year-old Roselli is drafted as a middle infielder coming off of his junior year as a Bearcat where he slashed .388/.492/738 with 8 home runs, 20 extra-base hits total and 21 RBI in 27 games played. Roselli missed seven weeks of the year due to an injury suffered in the season-opener.

Roselli’s career in Binghamton, besides missing time in 2024, was the definition of consistency. In 115 games played (starting all 52 games in 2023), he hit to a .349 batting average with 26 home runs, 104 RBI, with an on-base percentage of .442 and 70 walks.

After his freshman season coming out of Division Ave High School in Nassau County, Roselli’s defense improved from 11 errors in 2022 to just six combined in 2023 and 2024.

The Mets have had an eye for middle infield prospects in the draft such as Jett Williams in 2022 and trading for Luisangel Acuna in 2023, so Roselli will fit right into the system.

Roselli is the first Bearcat selected in the Amateur Draft since RHP Ben Anderson was taken by the Texas Rangers in 2019.
