As the City Girls continue their hiatus on recording and performing as a rap group, both members offer their side of the story. Speaking with Complex, JT shares how the split made sense to her, however, the dynamic duo will always be an element of her life and career.

“I think it made sense for both of us and it was no hard feelings,” the 31-year-old explained.

“I’m like Tina Turner, I’m still a City Girl. I need my name. That’s the biggest thing about me. I can’t ever get away from being a City Girl. It just made so much sense for the both of us in the direction that we were going and things that we were focusing on. There wasn’t no hard feeling about it. It was just like, we saw it coming.”

In the newest episode of Revolt Podcast Caresha Please , Yung Miami explained her take on the matter, speaking with fellow rapper and close friend, Saucy Santana.

“Sh*t ain’t all good, and it’s not all bad. I still look at her as family,” detailed the mother of two. “It just wasn’t connecting.”

The 30-year-old previously explained earlier this year that she and JT are in “two different spaces.”

Yung Miami and JT of City Girls perform onstage during the BET Hip-Hop Awards 2023 on October 03, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia.

JT released her first solo mixtape City Cinderella, in July 2024 and featured CLIP, DJ Khaled, Stunna Girl, and Jeezy across 16 tracks. She is also taking the effort across the country on a nationwide tour.

According to Complex , new music from Yung Miami is on hold. This year, she has released two solo singles “50/50” and “CFWM” featuring Skilla Baby.

“I’m not able to release music right now because it’s like when I try to turn my music in, it’s just like ‘We don’t see no growth in your music’ or ‘You not elevating.’ You know, like ‘the fans you’ve had since years ago, they’re grown now.'”
