Legendary B-boy Crazy Legs, of The Rock Steady Crew, has shared his opinion on the viral routine of Australian B-Girl Raygun during the 2024 Paris Olympics. In its debut year at the games, Breaking made waves across social media for not only its historic inclusion, but also the quality of its performances. Raygun, who was defeated in her three round-robin battles by a score of 54-0, stood out amongst the athletes for not being up to par.
Crazy Legs took to Instagram asserting his voice in the matter, due to fan request.
“I’ve been getting a lot of pressure and a lot of questions about Bgirl Raygun from Australia and out of respect for those who value my opinion, here it is,” he wrote on Instagram on Sunday (Aug 11).
“My personal opinion is that she should’ve never been on that stage, ” he explained in the clip.
“Do I think she deserves the amount of criticism that she’s getting? Nah,” he detailed, adding “Homegirl’s been dragged globally, dragged hardcore. People should ease up because the focus at this point should be all the good that came out of it.”
Crazy Legs is not the only Hip-Hop veteran to speak on Raygun’s skills. Dr. Dre expressed his disdain for the entire ordeal in a recent interview.
“I did not like that,” he began. “It’s so many great breakdancers that I don’t know why they had this particular person doing that.”
B-Girl Raygun of Team Australia competes during the B-Girls Round Robin – Group B on day fourteen of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Place de la Concorde on August 09, 2024 in Paris, France.
Raygun, a 36-year-old Australian college professor, legal name Raechel Gunn, has not remained silent on the critique.
“I was never going to beat these girls on what they do best — their power moves,” Gunn explained, per ESPN . “What I bring is creativity.”
“All of my moves are original,” she continued. “Creativity is really important to me. I go out there, and I show my artistry. Sometimes it speaks to the judges, and sometimes it doesn’t. I do my thing, and it represents art. That is what it is about.”
