Everybody Still Hates Chris is officially coming to the silver screen. On Monday (Aug. 26), Comedy Central announced the adult animation is set to premiere on the network on September 25, 2024 at 10 pm ET/PT.

The cartoon is a new interpretation of Chris Rock’s autobiographical Everybody Hates Chris sitcom, which ran for four seasons on UPN and then the CW from 2005 to 2009. Tichina Arnold and Terry Crews, who played Rock’s parents in the television series, reprise their roles for the cartoon. Additionally, the comedian is back to narrate his chaotic upbringing.

Tim Johnson Jr., Ozioma Akagha, Terrence Little Gardenhigh, and Gunnar Sizemore also lead as voice actors in the revival.

“I’m very excited to introduce the world to another funny side of my childhood,” detailed Chris Rock in a statement.

Plans for the cartoon were first announced in August 2022, and greenlit by MTV Entertainment Studios to run on Paramount+ and Comedy Central. Rock, as well as Sanjay Shah, Ali LeRoi, Michael Rotenberg, and Dave Becky, will executive produce the series, as he did with the original sitcom. Everybody Still Hates Chris is produced by CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios’ animation arm. Titmouse serves as the animation studio for the series with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, and Ben Kalina serving as executive producers.

“A reimagining of this groundbreaking, critically acclaimed series has been a source of creative discussions at our studio for a long time,” elaborated George Cheeks, president and CEO of CBS, at the time.

“It’s exciting to join forces with 3 Arts and the comedic genius of Chris Rock as he expands on his vision of the original show in this innovative new format. This also marks another significant in-house collaboration for CBS with Chris McCarthy and our valued partners at MTV Entertainment Studios as we jointly support this marquee series for Paramount+ and Comedy Central.”
