Officials with the City of Vicksburg this week said several projects aimed at improving the quality of life for residents during the
    summer months are currently underway.

“The City of Vicksburg has movement on Catfish Row Children’s Art Park and the grass cutting along the city’s major thoroughfares,” Ward 2 Alderman Alex Monsour said in a statement. “The City of Vicksburg has completed the procurement process for replacing play- ground equipment and the surfacing area at Catfish Row Children’s Art Park and Splash Fountain. The work is expected to be completed in July. The park will still be accessible while work is underway. The splash fountain officially opened for the season in early April.”

Additionally, Monsour said work to keep grass low on major thoroughfares across the city are scheduled.

“The Mississippi Department of Transportation contractor for grass cutting, Toby Trichell, notified the City of Vicksburg that they would get started this week on cutting the medians, shoulders, and off ramps of Interstate 20, Highway 61 North, and Highway 61 South.”

Monsour said more updates on citywide projects will be coming from his office as the information is finalized.
