    100 Years Ago: 1924

    Sam Jones, famed pecan grower and novelist, died in Mound • John Salter returned from Mexico. • Mrs. J. Waldauer, a former Warren County resident, was in Vicksburg on a visit.

    90 Years Ago: 1934

    Marie Allen and Joe Brown were married. • Orlando Patrick Hamilton died in Lake Providence, La. • Sara Bazinsky went to New Orleans to visit relatives. • Joe Garvey, a former Warren County resident, was in Vicksburg visiting his parents.

    80 Years Ago: 1944

    Mrs. R.G. LeTourneau was awarded an honorary degree in home economics from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark. • Corp. Vincent Russo was in Vicksburg on furlough from Camp Pickett, Va. • Senior Day was observed at Carr Central High School. • Mrs.Stanley Coad of Baton Rouge was visiting relatives in Tallulah.

    The Municipal Airport was closed for 60 days for resurfacing of the runways. • Col. Thomas Simpson, district engineer of the Vicksburg District Corps of Engineers, was the guest speaker at the B&PW Club meeting. • Baccalaureate exercises were held at Jett School.

    60 Years Ago: 1964

    Judge James Nichols was elected president of the Mississippi State Elks Club. • Sam Southall died. • Mr. and Mrs. James Gould announced the birth of a son, Allen Jay. • Services were held for G.B. Nichols of Tallulah.

    50 Years Ago: 1974

    David Q. Hopper accepted a position with Texas Eastman Company, a division of Eastman Kodak, Longview. • Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sager announced the birth of their daughter, Amy Angela. • Mr. and Mrs. Warren Doiron returned from Chattanooga.

    40 Years Ago: 1984

    A total of 175 families were driven from their homes as the river crests in Warren County. • Omeka Shaun Washington was two.  • Residents were warned to watch for deer fleeing flooded areas.

    30 Years Ago: 1994

    The senior classes of St Aloysius and Warren Central high schools graduated with 48 students receiving diplomas from St. Aloysius and 235 from Warren Central.
