City officials caution of construction assistance scam

Officials with the City of Vicksburg took to social media this week with a warning to locals about a scam circulating in the Vicksburg and Warren County area.

“It has been brought to the attention of the Community Development Department that individuals are identifying themselves as city employees (and) offering financial assistance for construction to residents,”Community Development Director Jeff Richardson said in a video posted to Facebook.  “This is a scam. The city does not have a program offering any assistance.”

Richardson said anyone who suspects they have been a victim of any malicious activity may report it to the Vicksburg Police Department at 601-636-2511.
