VIDOR — Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched Monday to the 1500 block of Texla Road in Vidor in reference to a vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a Jeep rolled over onto the passenger side of the vehicle.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, with the assistance of the Texas Department of Public Safety, was called in to investigate.

The driver, a male, was later confirmed to be deceased and has been identified as 67-year-old Donald Looney.

“This case remains open pending final autopsy, however, at this time no obvious signs of foul play are present,” a release from the Sheriff’s Office stated.

Authorities said a resident along Texla Road in discovered the rollover crash after the person kept hearing a constantly barking dog.

A dog that was with Looney was tranquilized in order for first responders to approach, police said.

The dog was later released to a friend of the family, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Captain Joey Jacobs.

The Sheriff’s Office received the call at approximately 10:36 a.m. Monday.
