Breaking real estate records in Orange County, a rare 42-acre property in San Juan Capistrano hit the market in June for a listing price of $150 million. In the heart of San Juan near Marbella Country Club, Robert Maurer, the seller of “Casa Grande,” has been dreaming of the day to see the fruition of the estate be completed. The estate includes an existing 21,000-square-foot structure consisting of three apartments, offices, and storage space, which was completed in 2010. It also has permitted plans for a 38,000-square-foot main residence on a ridgeline with 360-degree views.

Mosquitos test positive for West Nile Virus in nearby Huntington
The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD) has confirmed that mosquitoes collected in the city of Huntington Beach have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). These are the first samples to test positive in the county this year. The positive mosquitoes were collected in an area bordered by Newland St., Adams Ave., Bushard St., and Atlanta Ave. in Huntington Beach.
Orange County school official sentenced for embezzling over $16.6 million from district
A federal judge sentenced a former Orange County school employee to nearly six years in prison for embezzling nearly $16.7 million from the district. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 53-year-old Jorge Armando Contreras embezzled the money over a seven-year period. He was arrested in October 2023 for suspicion of felony embezzlement concerning programs receiving federal funds.On March 28, he pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement, theft, and intentional misapplication of funds from an organization receiving federal funds.
