Willie Nelson will not return to the stage yet, per a new update on Wednesday afternoon (June 26). The statement arrives days after the legendary country artist, 91, was “not feeling well,” and ordered by his doctors to rest.
“Willie Nelson will not be performing at tonight’s show in Virginia Beach,” the latest update, shared to Nelson’s Instagram account, reads. “We expect Willie to return to the tour shortly. Bob Dylan , Robert Plant and Alison Krauss , (and) Celisse will perform as scheduled. Lukas Nelson and Family along with some special guests will play his own set which will include Willie’s classics and other songs.”
The “On the Road Again” singer’s unspecified illness arrived as his “Outlaw Music Festival Tour” kicked off. Nelson’s team said in a statement on Friday afternoon (June 21), hours before the first show of the tour took place in Alpharetta, Georgia: “ We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders , has been advised to rest for the next four days. He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week. In the meantime, Lukas Nelson and the Family Band, along with a few guests, will perform a special set to include Willie’s classics and other songs. Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss and Celisse will continue to perform as scheduled.”
