Initial court appearance for Metsa set for today

VIRGINIA—Former Minnesota District 06B Representative Jason Metsa is slated for an initial court appearance this morning in Sixth District Court in Virginia after being arrested Saturday and booked in St. Louis County Jail on a pending charge of 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct—force or coercion.

Metsa, 43, who is also a former Deputy Commissioner for the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board, was booked at 11:48 a.m. Saturday, according to information on the St. Louis County Jail roster.

Metsa served as District 06B Representative from 2013 to 2018. He also ran—unsuccessfully—for the 8th District Congressional seat in 2018.

No other information was available as of late Sunday.
