    NOVA residents are relocating

Axios is reporting that Richmond and Winchester Virginia are experiencing an increase in residents because Northern Virginia (NOVA) residents are deciding to relocate to these areas.

As people continue to work remotely and DMV housing prices remain high, many locals are relocating to smaller and less expensive areas in Virginia says the study, which is based on county and city population estimates.

Winchester and Richmond are seeing growth

Richmond has seen a significant influx during the past 3 years with the majority moving into 4 specific counties- Goochland, Louisa, Caroline, and New Kent. During that same time frame, Winchester became the state's fastest-growing metro area with a 4.6% population increase — almost five times that of the state as a whole.

According to Redfin, as of December 2023, the median sales price for a home in Winchester and Richmond was $395,000.
