    Reed Birney hits a milestone this year

    You may have seen Reed Birney as Donald Blythe in “House of Cards” (2013-2017), Pop in “The Hunt” (2020), Richard in “Mass” (2021) and in Dexter in Harding in American Horror Story (2023-2024). Were you aware this award-winning actor was from Virginia?

    He was born on September 11, 1954, in Alexandria and has been acting since 1976, when he debuted in the film Not a Pretty Picture. Some of his earliest TV credits include The Good Wife, Eight is Enough, Tales from the Crypt and portraying Walter Trask on the NBC soap Another World.

    The Virginia actor is an award winner

    Birney was nominated for ten awards and won four of them. He received the Drama Desk Awards: Special Drama Desk Award (2011) and Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play for Cassa Valentina (2014). I

    In 2016 he received the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble and a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play both for The Humans. Reed Birney is married to actress Constance Shulman and their children, daughter Gus Birney and son Ephraim Birney are also actors.
