The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) appointed Judge Jehmal Hudson as a member of its Executive Committee.

Hudson, the chairman of the Virginia State Corporation Commission, replaces Kent Chandler, former chairman of the Kentucky Public Service Commission.

Hudson is currently the current chair of the Committee on Energy Resources and the Environment and previously served as chair of the Select Committee on Regulatory and Industry Diversity.

In addition, he is a member of the NARUC Board of Directors and is the current president of the Mid-Atlantic Conference of Regulatory Utilities Commissioners.

“NARUC has always been an organization dedicated to representing state regulators who ensure affordable and reliable service in the utilities industry,” Hudson said. “I look forward to working with the Association in this new role, and I am very thankful to President Fedorchak for the opportunity.”

The Executive Committee includes NARUC’s principal officers — the president, first vice president, second vice president, treasurer, and two appointed members. These officers are responsible for the organization’s overall direction.

“Judge Hudson will be a tremendous asset to the Executive Committee,” NARUC President Julie Fedorchak, who appointed Hudson, said. “He brings a wealth of expertise, overseeing a dynamic, complex regulatory agency, coupled with federal experience and a deep understanding of the Association through his roles as a committee chair and board member. We are also very grateful to Commissioner Emeritus Kent Chandler for his hard work and dedication serving on the Executive Committee.”
