    The polls are open! Vote for the Tulare County athlete of the week, May 20-24

    Visalia Times-Delta/Tulare Advance-Register readers can now vote for their favorite high school athletes at the newspaper's website, visaliatimesdelta.com. The poll closes on Friday.

    • Bryce Crook, baseball, Central Valley Christian: Crook earned the win on the hill, tossing five innings to anchor the Cavaliers to an 11-3 win over Exeter in a Central Section Division III quarterfinal playoff game. He gave up five hits but did not allow an earned run.
    • Levi Jimenez, boys track and field, Mission Oak: Jimenez registered a second-place showing in the boys' high jump with a leap of 6 feet and 4 inches at the 2024 Central Section Track and Field Championships.
    • Cade McElmoyl, baseball, Exeter: McElmoyl blasted a three-run bomb and finished with three hits and four RBIs in a playoff win over Tehachapi.
    • Hayden Oliveira, softball, Golden West: Oliveira had three hits and scored a run in a playoff loss to Mission Oak.
    • Maleena Martin, softball, Mission Oak: Martin registered three hits with an RBI, double and run and also pitched a complete game with four strikeouts as the Hawks downed Golden West in a postseason game.
    • Avril Mendoza, girls track and field, Dinuba: Mendoza won the silver medal in the girls' 300-meter hurdles at 43.12 seconds at the 2024 Central Section Track and Field Championships.
    • Ismael Pena, baseball, Woodlake: Pena tossed a one-hit, complete-game shutout to deliver the Tigers to a 4-0 win over Delano in a Division VI first-round postseason game. He had four strikeouts and allowed only three baserunners.
    • Jordan Rhyner, baseball, El Diamante: Rhyner threw an eight-inning no-hitter to help the 16th-seed Miners upset No. 1 Pioneer Valley in a Central Section Division III first-round postseason game. He threw four strikeouts and also had two hits as a batter.
    • Ryleigh Schoonover, girls track and field, Porterville: Schoonover came in second in the girls' 800 meters with a time of 2:15.31 at the 2024 Central Section Track and Field Championships.

    Nominations are based on information available to the Times-Delta.

    All high school varsity players from Tulare County can be on the ballot. Nominations must be received for consideration by Monday morning following that week's games.
