WABASH, Ind. (WANE) – As told in the classic cartoon “Schoolhouse Rock,” three is a magic number. Ryan Carmichael is hoping that saying rings true ahead of his third season leading Wabash football.

The Apaches struggled through a 2-8 season last year. Now Carmichael’s crew has a tough task ahead with replacing Izaak Wright at quarterback. The graduate finished his high school career as the school’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns.

Carmichael hopes to raise the team’s level of physicality, especially at the line of scrimmage. Caden Carmichael, an all-TRC offensive lineman, returns to anchor the trenches on both sides of the ball. Meanwhile, Haiden McWhirt looks to make a sophomore leap after rushing for 196 yards and two touchdowns in his freshman season.

Wabash kicks off the season on Friday, Aug. 23 at Rochester.
