    Jags girls lacrosse marks Senior Night with emphatic win over Waconia

    Jefferson girls lacrosse honored its senior class in style with an 11-1 win over Waconia to close out the regular season with a third consecutive win and fourth game scoring in double digits.

    The five seniors were honored during halftime as the Jaguars enter sections with an 8-5 overall record and 3-4 Metro West Conference records, which was fifth among the eight teams with Waconia going 0-7 in league play (2-11 overall).

    Jefferson held Waconia to a season-best one goal highlighted the Jaguars’ defense for the second day in a row. The team also defeated St. Louis Park 21-8 one day earlier.

    The current streak began with a 15-13 win over Blake on May 16 as Karly Lind and Kylie Jones each had five goals. Jones added one assist as Jefferson picked up assists on 10 of the 21 goals. Molly Jensen led the way with five assists while Talia Hammond finished with two goals and two assists. Bea Ruble picked up three points including two goals and Brooklyn Mattson scored twice in support of goaltender Marlee Hanson who made six saves.

    Holy Angels

    Holy Angels wrapped up the regular season with an 11-6 loss at Shakopee on May 23 after St. Croix Prep picked up an 18-5 win at Stardome on May 20.

    The final week came after going 3-0 the previous week with wins over Columbia Heights (20-5, May 13), Visitation (13-9, May 16) and Breck (8-6, May 17).

    Kennedy/Burnsville

    The first regular season of the Kennedy/Burnsville cooperative with coach Sheryl Raithel back on the sideline coaching came to an end with a 7-5 loss on May 23 to Duluth Marshall.

    The Blazing Eagles closed out the regular season with a 3-8 record after a 14-7 loss to Tartan/North St. Paul on Monday, 12-2 loss to St. Louis Park on May 16 and a 7-2 win on May 9 at Columbia Heights.
