Waconia’s downtown construction project has moved into Stage 2.

As paving was underway recently on Stage 1 at Main, Pine and Spruce streets, crews had begun sanitary sewer work and utility construction on Stage 2 on Main Street between Olive and Elm.

Elm Street was slated to remain fully open with pavement until this week when that too will be closed for construction, according to the latest project reports.

Stage 1 work is slated to be complete by Nickle Dickle Day on Sept. 14. The full project is expected to be mostly complete by November.

Construction managers remind that properties will be notified directly of times that access could be limited due to construction activities. During the workday, best efforts will be made to accommodate regular access as much as possible and affected properties should have access to driveways and alleys at the end of each day. Property owners are invited to contact on-site project representative Colin Quinn at 763-349-4450, with any questions, property specific needs, and accommodations.

    Waconia Parkway North

Meanwhile, as reported earlier and in the city’s July newsletter, a mill and overlay project is slated for Waconia Parkway North late summer or early fall.

That project involves removing the upper layer of pavement and then repaving the roadway from approximately County Highway 10 to Scott Lane. The far west end of the roadway won’t be resurfaced until 2025 as part of plans to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Waconia Parkway North with CSAH 10.

This mill and overlay project also includes the replacement and repair of trail segments in the area.

The roadway will remain open during construction; however, traffic will be restricted to one-lane at certain times.

The construction schedule will be posted to the city’s website Waconia.org once it has been confirmed.

    Highway 212

At the county and state level, a kickoff celebration is slated for Aug. 7 to mark the beginning of construction on Highway 212 Project in Benton Township. That represents the final phase of roadway widening with additional lanes and safety improvements to that highway from Cologne to Norwood Young America.
