    Teen boy who drowned at Quarry Park identified

    The 17-year-old who drowned at the Quarry Park and Nature Preserve in Waite Park has been identified as Emmanuel Seward Jr., of Brooklyn Center.

    Stearns County dispatchers received a report at 4:21 p.m. on Tuesday that a teen that had jumped from a 10-foot high cliff into the water at Quarry 11 and never resurfaced.

    Bystanders at the park attempted to find the teen by diving after him, but were unsuccessful.

    Brooklyn Center High

    The Stearns/Benton Dive Team, Waite Park and Saint Cloud Fire Departments, deployed boats, finding him at approximately 8:45 PM in 31 feet of water.

    Seward was a junior at Brooklyn Center High School and played for its baseball team.

    The team posted on Facebook mourning his loss, noting how thei, "little baseball program won't be the same."

    Coach Kevin Pitman wrote: “My Centaurs, take it easy, be kind to yourself, give your closest friends and family a big hug, and eat some Cheddar Ruffles for E-Man."
