Toddler drowns in pool

A 2-year-old child has died from an apparent drowning.

“The entire Wake County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences to the family during this tragic time. We stand with them and the community, providing any assistance we are able to as they navigate this profound loss,” Sheriff Willie Rowe said Tuesday afternoon.

WCSO reported shortly before 11 a.m. that it had responded to a report of a drowning at a private residence.

Around 9:45 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a drowning on Gail Ridge Lane.

When deputies arrived, they located a juvenile who had already been rescued from a pool. First responders, including EMS and firefighters, provided life-saving measures. At that time, Wake County EMS transported the juvenile to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation, and there is no additional information at this time, according to WCSO.
