Two arrested after theft, car crash in Wake Forest

Two people were arrested Sunday after police said they stole merchandise from a store in Wake Forest and led police on a chase that ended in a crash.

The theft happened at the Walmart in Wake Forest. Police pulled the vehicle over soon after the incident occurred, but the two people inside the car sped off and began leading the officers on a chase.

The chase ended when the car belonging to the alleged thieves crashed while headed west out of Wake Forest on N.C. 98.

Wake Forest police said that both occupants of the fleeing vehicle were taken to local hospitals and were treated for minor injuries before being taken into custody.

Neither the driver of the vehicle nor the passenger has been identified.
