Barton Commission speaks transmission corridor; event to be livestreamed
A proposed National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor (NIETC) continues to generate discussion in Central Kansas. Several hundred people attended an informational meeting in Larned last Thursday, and the Barton County Commission will host another informational meeting tonight at the Great Bend Events Center, 3111 10th Street. Commissioner Shawn Hutchinson provided a preview of tonight's discussion during Tuesday's regularly-scheduled meeting. The NIETC stems from one entity, Grain Belt Express, wanting to construct a transmission line from Dodge City 780 miles east to Indiana.

HCA Midwest Health Selects Janie Thompson as Menorah Medical Center COO
Overland Park-based Menorah Medical Center announced Janie Thompson will be joining the hospital as chief operating officer. Thompson, a Leawood native, will be returning to Johnson County after most recently serving as COO for HCA Healthcare’s St. David’s Georgetown Hospital in Texas. 2024 High School Football Previews: Frontenac Raiders
FRONTENAC, KS – The Raiders are starting off their season with a familiar face. Head coach Leon Miller is certainly no stranger to Raider Football. Returning after eighteen years at the helm, Miller won over 130 games at Frontenac from 1989-2005. The long term head coach would go on to pursue coaching at Parsons, Neosho, and Warsaw.
