Police from Charles County, Prince George’s County and Washington, D.C., served a search warrant on April 11 and made an arrest relating to an alleged burglary earlier this year at the Waldorf firehouse.

Around 1 a.m. on Feb. 28, video showed a suspect arriving in a BMW 5 Series at the Westlake Self Storage that overlooks the front of Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department Station 12, according to charging documents.

Two suspects were seen exiting the vehicle and entered the firehouse through an unlocked front door. The suspects allegedly stole a Hurst “jaws of life” hydraulic rescue tool, valued at $12,000, and a battery, valued at $380, the documents say.

A third suspect, who was the driver of the BMW, remained in the vehicle during the burglary, according to the charging documents.

Around 3 a.m., the suspects returned to the firehouse and allegedly stole another “jaws of life” device, valued at $13,000, charging documents say.

Digital Forensic Unit Examiner Brackett was able to provide a clear picture of the BMW’s registration, and detectives developed Kairon Andre Fuell, 20, of Capitol Heights as a suspect, the documents say.

Detectives also linked Fuell to several robberies that occurred in Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Charles County Sheriff’s Office detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Fuell, who was located, arrested and charged with burglary, theft and other related crimes, a release from the Charles sheriff’s office said.

Evidence allegedly linking Fuell to the firehouse burglary and other crimes in the region was recovered in addition to a firearm, according to the release. The suspect is also facing criminal charges with other law enforcement agencies throughout the area.

On April 12, a judge ordered Fuell could be released from the Charles County Detention Center on a $2,000 bond relating to the burglary case; however, he does have an active warrant from another police department and remains in custody awaiting extradition proceedings.
