SOUTH CAROLINA (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A South Carolina who pled guilty to charges involving the January 6th U.S. Capitol breach has received a lengthy sentence, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia announced on Thursday.

Walhalla resident Thomas Casselman, 30, will serve over three years after pleading guilty to charges of assaulting law enforcement.

Court records stated that on January 6th Casselman was among the crowd involved in the U.S. Capitol breach and taunted officers before Casselman stepped forward and deployed a spray-based cannister in close range of multiple officers. The spray hit multiple officers causing visibility impairment and hindering their abilities to protect the Capitol building.

Casselman was arrested on March 28, 2023.
