Julie Rizzitello of Brick Township — According to theMonmouth County Prosecutors Office, A former teacher at Wall Township High School has been arrested and criminally charged with having a sexual relationship with a student. In a joint statement, Wall Township Police Chief Sean O'Halloran and Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced that Julie Rizzitello, 36, of Brick Township, a former English teacher at Wall High School, was charged with three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, and three counts of witness tampering. Authorities reported that Rizzitello had resigned from her role as a teacher earlier in the week.

Two teens from Howell, New Jersey are being hailed as heroes after they saved a friend's life.Friends of 18-year-old JJ Machnik rushed to his side in May when he suddenly collapsed while training for a wrestling tournament.They continued to perform CPR until paramedics arrived.Machnik is a star athlete and in good health, but at the age of 14, he was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.His friends, Giovanni and Trevor, knew about his condition and ran to his side when he collapsed on the treadmill.Machnik says he's forever grateful for their quick actions."I'm blessed they were there. Trevor speeding down CPR with Giovanni pulling me off the treadmill," Machnil recalled. "It really is a miracle."The teen says his friends learned CPR when he was first diagnosed with the heart condition.He spent 13 days in the hospital, where he later received a defibrillator to prevent future episodes.

WEST LONG BRANCH — A firefighter is charged with forgery after being accused of tampering with records in response to an Open Public Records Act request. Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said his office was investigating the validity of two training certificates for a firefighter with West Long Branch Fire Company No. 2 earlier in 2024. Investigators determined that Ronald Guidetti, 61, of Long Branch, created fake certificates to fulfill the OPRA request and then destroyed them, according to the prosecutor.
