Fatal accident in Walland

A 65-year-old Florida woman and an 83-year-old Tennessee man were killed in a crash on April 4 at the intersection of U.S. 321 and West Miller Cove Road.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, the vehicle was traveling westbound on U.S. 321 when it ran off the road, striking a rock and two trees and caught fire.

Blount County Fire Protection District responded with seven trucks and reported that there were “15-20 foot flames coming from the vehicle.”

The BCFD stated that “Firefighters, Sheriff’s Officers, and good Samaritans helped pull two of the people safely away from the car.”

There were a total of three occupants in the vehicle.

Two passengers, Teresa Hill and James Hunter, were pronounced dead.

The incident is still under investigation.
