Overcrowded Oakland County Animal Shelter has nearly 300 animals waiting for a new home
(CBS DETROIT) - The Oakland County Animal Shelter has a lot of furry friends ready to go home. "We get full up in the summer; it happens every year. But we're putting the plea out: if you are interested in adopting a pet, please check us out first before you go to a breeder," said Joanie Toole, who serves as chief of the Oakland County Animal Shelter. Sign of the Beefcarver on Woodward was the backdrop for a recent unique award presentation. Easterseals MORC’s Dreams Unlimited Clubhouse, a mental health rehabilitation program that gives community members skills to prepare them for re-entry into the workforce or make a career change, presented the Sign of the Beefcarver restaurant on Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak with an Employer Appreciation Plaque. On hand were Royal Oak Mayor Mike Fournier, restaurant owner Jay Joliat and Easterseals MORC representatives.
