WICCOPEE – Back in 2018, when performing the annual ritual of placing flags on the graves of veterans, Commander Jim Reynolds of American Legion Post 1758. in Hopewell Junction discovered that the headstone of Revolutionary War veteran Henry Charlock, located in a small cemetery in Wiccopee in the Town of East Fishkill, had fallen over or been vandalized and was broken.
Supervisor Warns that Influx of Storms With Downed Wires & Flooding Require an Abundance of Caution
An assortment of trees and electric wires came down and started a fire. at the corner of Greycourt and Craigville Roads on June 24. Blooming Grove Supervisor, Rob Jeroloman warned that the recent upsurge in quickly moving violent storms can result in life-threatening situations in seconds, and he asks residents to use extreme caution. For instance, last week the down wires on Craigville Road also initiated a fire. Some streets and roads, as in the Craigville instance, have a complexity of wires, and when they come down no one but an electrical representative should guess which wires are cable and which are electric, it could be a guess causing death. The best response to seeing a wire down is to turn around and seek a different route, especially if there is an abundance of water.,

Koren wins Congressman Pat Ryan’s Art Competition
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tabitha Koren, a rising senior at Spackenkill High School, has been named the winner of Congressman Pat Ryan’s Art Competition. Koren, of Poughkeepsie, was recently honored by Ryan at a ceremony in the Capitol. Koren won for her graphite and acrylic painting titled, “Monkey the Man.” As the NY-18 winner, Koren attended the Congressional Art Competition Awards Ceremony held Thursday, June 27th, at the U.S. Capitol Building. Koren’s artwork will be displayed at the Capitol for the next year.
