WALNUT COVE — South Stokes’ Rebecca Amos is looking forward to playing basketball, softball and volleyball during her last year of school, hanging out with her people, going to school sporting events and all the other fun senior stuff.

Amos is a four-sport athlete for the Sauras playing basketball, softball, volleyball and running cross country. She helped led her softball team to a conference championship, two conference tournament championships and two regional state playoff appearances. In basketball, a sport she started playing because she lost a bet to boys’ basketball coach Jason Clark, she helped the Sauras to their first winning season (15-12) since 2014-15 and a third place finish in the Northwest 1A.

Rebecca’s post season awards include All-County, All-Conference, All-Tournament and All-District in softball; All-County, All-Conference, and All-Tournament in basketball, All-County and All-Conference in volleyball; and All-Conference in cross country. Amos also plays travel softball for Carolina Cardinals National Chandler 18U.

Amos is a member of FCS/FCA, Beta Club, National Honor Society, FFA, Pep Club, a Junior Marshall, Mu Alpha Theta, and she is a Student Ambassador.

She loves the fact that everyone knows everyone in the Walnut Cove community and that it feels like one big family. She has always felt so loved and supported by everyone there.

Rebecca has verbally committed to Winthrop University to play softball and plans to major in physical education with a minor in coaching.

The Stokes News was able to catch up with Rebecca and she allowed us to get to know her on a more personal level by answering the following questions:

    Favorite Food: Hibachi or watermelon

    Favorite Subject: Weights

Biggest Influence: My parents, they have done their best to provide for me and my siblings, and also instill good Christian beliefs into us. As I get older, I find myself wanting to be more like the both of them.

    Favorite TV Show: ”Full House”

Favorite Music: I listen to all kinds, but Christian and Country are my most listened to

Favorite Sport: To hard to choose

Website you visit most often: Tik Tok

Favorite Day of the Year: I would say Christmas, because most importantly it is the celebration of Christ’s birth, but also people tend to be kinder to each other at Christmas time. I also really enjoy Christmas because I get to spend time with my family, eat good food, and give and receive presents!

    Favorite Ice Cream: Birthday Cake

Pets: Two cats, one named Toodles, and the other named Big Pookie

Favorite Teacher/Coach: I may be biased but my favorite teacher would be my weights teacher, Coach Amos, who also happens to be my dad! He always pushes me to do my best while making it fun, and I have seen so much growth in my strength, endurance, and athleticism while taking his class.

Dream Vacation: Greece, it’s such a pretty place, and my mom’s side of the family are Greek, so that makes it even cooler.

Dream Job: A PE Teacher and Coach

Hobbies: Spending time with my people, taking pictures, DIYs, and doing anything competitive

Favorite Athlete: Caitlyn Clark, because she has played such a big part in the growth of women’s sports, while also staying humble and keeping her cool. She carries a lot of weight but never lets the pressure get to her, and I really look up to her.

Hardest Lesson you have learned: Thay maybe, I’m not always right…

What’s the best thing about you: I’m a joyful person, and I try to always show love to others
