Blood drive honors beloved teacher
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - A teacher’s legacy lives on at Westside High School. Several gathered for the Terri Tyner Memorial Blood Drive at Westside on Tuesday, July 2. Terri Tyner, a beloved math teacher died from ovarian cancer in 2023. Tyner’s treatment plan called for several blood transfusions. However, Tyner was sent home without chemotherapy multiple times due to a lack of donors.

Little Rock man pleads guilty to federal firearms violation in Texas
BEAUMONT, Texas — A Little Rock, Arkansas, man has pleaded guilty to a federal firearms violation in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs. Jajuan Lee Bonds, 23, pleaded guilty to possession of a machine gun before U.S. Magistrate Judge Christine L. Stetson on July 2, 2024. According to information presented in court, on July 21, 2022, an officer with the Corrigan Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Bonds. The officer observed what appeared to be marijuana in a clear plastic baggie in the vehicle. During a search, the officer located a firearm outfitted with a machine gun conversion device, commonly referred to as a “Glock Switch.” The modified handgun had been previously reported stolen.

STAR CITY, Ark. – The Star City Men’s League Ball Fields will host a Co-Ed Softball Tournament on Saturday, July 27, 2024, starting at 9:00 AM.
