Donations of new school supplies sought
Project Self-Sufficiency is seeking donations of new school supplies for distribution to more than 500 children and teens during August. Organizers suggest that donors sponsor a backpack for students in need. A $25 donation will purchase and fill a small backpack with key supplies needed for elementary school students while a $50 donation will purchase and fill a large backpack with key supplies for middle and high school students.
Township Council Commits To Purchase $700,000 In Goods And Services
Contracts for nearly $700,000 in goods and services were awarded July 9 by the Township Council. The Council approved five contracts totaling $696,588.10. Nine companies were awarded contracts valued up to $500,000 for surveying services. The companies are Carroll Engineering and Van Cleef Engineering Associates, both of Hillsborough; Boswell Engineering of South Hackensack; Colliers Engineering & Design of Holmdel; CME Associates of Parlin; Harbor Consultants of Cranford; The Nader Group of Hackettstown; Paulus, Sokolowski & Sartor of Warren, and Suburban Consulting Engineers of Flanders.
Westwood BOE OKs $180k for new sidewalks, asbestos cleanup at elementary school
Washington Elementary School in the Westwood Regional School District is getting a fresh coat of paint, new sidewalks and a final asbestos abatement in the building. The regional school board, which oversees schools in Washington Township and Westwood, approved funding for improvements to the Washington School during its Thursday night meeting. The board approved a $111,250 co-op bid from GL Group to perform the asbestos abatement and awarded a $69,432 co-op contract to Patch Management Inc. to perform sidewalk replacement.
Denville Brewery Celebrates First Anniversary
DENVILLE, NJ - Diamond Spring Brewing Company recently celebrated a significant milestone, marking one year in downtown Denville. The brewery was founded by managing partners Craig Doremus and Attila Nagy, both long-time residents of Denville, along with their spouses, Chrissy Doremus and Monika Kuzmos. Doremus also serves as the Head Brewer. Their signature brews Lakeside, a West Coast IPA, and Juice Box, a beloved New England hazy IPA were also on tap for guests to enjoy. “I was really happy to see [Diamond Spring Brewing Company] open last year, and I haven't been disappointed!” said Diamond Spring patron Lionel Ruland. “I've met some great people, drank some great beers, and attended some great special events.
