Heat Advisory Extended in Mount Holly Region as Index Values May Soar to 104, Excessive Heat Watch Flags Dangerous Conditions
The National Weather Service has extended a Heat Advisory for the region, including parts of northern Delaware, New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania, urging residents to prepare for a sweltering climate that is not only oppressive but potentially dangerous. According to the advisory, which remains in effect from 10 AM Sunday morning until 6 AM EDT Tuesday, residents can expect heat index values up to 104. Additionally, there is an Excessive Heat Watch from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening, with heat index values possibly reaching a scorching 109 degrees.
Donations of new school supplies sought
Project Self-Sufficiency is seeking donations of new school supplies for distribution to more than 500 children and teens during August. Organizers suggest that donors sponsor a backpack for students in need. A $25 donation will purchase and fill a small backpack with key supplies needed for elementary school students while a $50 donation will purchase and fill a large backpack with key supplies for middle and high school students.
