Singer Brett Scallions, out of Fuel, motors on solo in Brodheadsville show
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — In late 2020, singer Brett Scallions of the chart-topping post-grunge band Fuel again found himself relieved of his duties in the band. Scallions also had left Fuel in 2006, but in 2010 rejoined — and revived — the band, continuing it as the only original member in a licensing agreement with guitarist and songwriter Carl Bell, who owned the rights to Fuel.
Woman, 96, dies from injuries
Marcos Travis of Newton died of her injuries after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing Madison Street in a marked crosswalk June 27. She was 96. About 11 a.m. that day, the Newton Police Department received a 9-1-1 call about an accident. A preliminary investigation showed that Hunter Grave de Peralta, 25, of Newton was traveling south on Madison after turning left from Elm Street. His vehicle struck Travis, police said.

UPDATE:Water Main Break on Hicks Avenue in Newton Repaired
NEWTON, NJ – Town officials report Newton DPW crews "worked through the night and repaired the water main break at Hicks Avenue." A water main break on Hicks Avenue caused a disruption of water service to residents on Hicks Avenue, Smith Street, Grand Avenue and other area neighborhoods, according to town officials.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Affected residents had low or no water pressure. As of approximately 8:30 p.m. Newton Department of Public Works crews were reported to be on route to make repairs, town officials said. Murder charge: Young NJ woman was shot and killed with puppy
Authorities have identified a 21-year-old woman as the victim shot and killed in Warren County last week — for which a Morris County man has been charged with murder. Amanda Pulver, of Independence, was shot on June 27 after 8 a.m. along Alphano Road, according to Acting Warren County Prosecutor Anthony Picione.
