State Troopers say property damage only after car crashes into Dollar General Store
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — North Carolina State Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a car crashing into a Dollar General Store on N.C. Highway 43 near Chicod. Troopers said it happened shortly after 3 p.m. and there appeared to be only damage to property and no physical injuries.

Pitt commissioners authorize first steps in starting pretrial release program.
The Pitt County Board of Commissioners has approved the first steps to launch a pretrial services program. The board voted 6-0 to adopt the recommendation of the Pretrial Services Advisory Board and requested it bring back a detailed budget for getting a program underway. Badcock Home Furniture & More announced the closure of its Kinston store as part of a broader plan to shutter 35 locations nationwide. This move comes after Conn’s HomePlus, which acquired Badcock in December 2023, decided to close 71 of its own showrooms.
