According to Fox Business, families with children in kindergarten through high school are expected to spend $38 billion this year. That's up from $25 billion in 2019. Families are expected to spend $875 on average. Although, according to the U.S. Inflation Calculator, things look like they are letting up. Prices were up 2.9% in July over the previous 12 months. This is the lowest inflation rate since March 2021 and a significant decline from 2022.

New Principals Chosen At Waterville Central
Waterville Central School District hired two principals last week to fill vacancies. Kathy Zangrilli is the new principal at Memorial Park School in Waterville. Zangrilli was approved for the position at last week’s Waterville Central School Board of Education meeting. Her official start date will come in the next month or so.

A growing number of districts have plans to go cellphone free when school starts in September. REMINDER: submit proposed 2024-25 District Safety Plan comments until Aug. 18
Proposed changes to Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District’s 2024-25 District Safety Plan were outlined during a Board of Education public hearing on Monday, July 29. The majority of updates can be found in section 2 of the safety plan, Prevention and Intervention Strategies. There is some new language regarding updated regulations and Special Patrol Officers. The district is in the process of hiring School Resource Officers or Special Patrol Officers for all five school buildings.
