Sparta Education Foundation's Cornament Raises Funds for Local School Grants
SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta Education Foundation held their fourth annual Cornament on the turf field at Station Park. Forty-eight teams competed in the heat. There were four rounds of round-robin play followed by a single elimination final round. The Sparta Education Foundation provided grants to Sparta public schools with the proceeds of their fundraisers throughout the year. Resident Revives Competition Color Guard
Four decades ago, Rebecca Karpinski’s mother and aunts were part of an award-winning color guard at Verona High School. Karpinski, who has made her own mark in the world of color guards, has decided to honor their achievements by reviving the Verona Vanguard. It will now be called Verona Vanguard Independent because it will be separate from the school district’s extracurricular offerings.

Sam Cavallaro's ascension to head football coach at Bloomfield High began in 1966. Cavallaro had success as head coach at Bayonne prior to his arrival at Bloomfield. That first team would finish 4-5 in '66. The next two seasons, Bloomfield had back-to-back records of 4-3-2.
