LEO-CEDARVILLE, Ind. (WANE) – Last year, the “Purple Pride” of Leo felt extra prideful on the gridiron. The Lions ended a 12-year drought without postseason hardware, winning a sectional and regional title before bowing out in the 4A semi-state round.

Despite graduating several seniors from last year’s team, the Lions are determined to take care of unfinished business this fall.

All eyes will be on 6-foot-3-inch tight end and defensive lineman Brock Schott. The Miami Hurricanes commit caught 35 passes for 743 yards and six touchdowns last year. Defensively, the 4-star recruit racked up a team-high 19 sacks. Schott will be tasked with leading Leo’s offense while the Lions look to replace playmakers like Kaden Hurst and quarterback Kylar Decker.

Meanwhile, the Lions also feature two-way standout Landin Hoeppner. The defensive back and wideout committed to Army over the summer. The defensive back piled up 43 tackles and four interceptions as a junior.

Jared Jasper, Jaxon Keller and Tristian Roberts also look to shine on the Lions’ defense this season.

Leo kicks off their season on Friday, Aug. 23 at Bishop Luers.
