ANGOLA, Ind. (WANE) – After sporting identical 12-1 seasons in 2017 & 2018, the Angola football program has hit a bit of a speed bump, as the Hornets have posted a losing record in three of the five seasons since – including a 2-8 mark last fall.

Angola’s move from 4A down to 3A this fall will help, and one player who will be counted on to help turn things around for the Hornets is quarterback Hawk Hasselman. Last year as a sophomore Hasselman was a part-time starter at QB, throwing for 398 yards and 5 touchdowns with 375 yards rushing and 5 more scores. However, talented tight end Lane King has graduated, with King signing to play D-1 football at Ball State.

Junior Lucas Lentz will be counted on to lead both on the offensive and defensive line, while leading tackler Alex Thomas returns at linebacker.

Angola opens the season at home Friday, August 23 against DeKalb.
