‘It’s been a whirlwind’: Local shelter continues to care for animals seized by authorities last month
MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) - A Muscatine woman has been formally charged with 67 counts of animal neglect, including the death of six animals. The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office seized the animals from Kelly Adams, 44, last month. And the animals have been housed at a Muscatine animal shelter named It Takes a Village Animal Rescue and Resources (ITAVARR) ever since.

A Muscatine woman faces 67 counts of animal neglect following her arrest July 9 following an investigation by the Muscatine Sheriff’s Department. Kelly Marie Adams, 44, of 2431 Highway 22, Muscatine, was arrested on July 9, 2024, and charged with six counts of Animal Neglect Resulting in Serious Injury or Death under Iowa Code 717B.3(5) and 61 counts of Animal Neglect No Injury under Iowa Code 717B.3(3). The charges were filed on July 8, 2024.
