Offices were called to the hospital Monday for a child who was brought there after possibly consuming a THC edible at a home in the 2000 block of Youngstown Road in Warren.

A social worker told police that the mother noticed the child was acting strange and took her to St. Joseph Hospital to be checked. Staff there asked if the child had access to THC and at first, the mother said no, but then said she remembered a friend giving her a THC edible that she placed on her dresser. She went home to check the dresser and the edible was gone, the report stated.

The child was then taken to Akron Children’s Hospital for treatment.

Police said they were advised that the edible was a quarter of its original size but contained about 10 mg of THC. A drug test on the child showed THC in her system, the report stated.

Police said at the time of the report, the health status of the child was good.

Trumbull County Children Services was notified, the report stated.

A THC ingestion by children was almost deadly in a case out of Sharon. Charges were filed last Wednesday against two sisters after it was discovered that children ingested THC candies, leading to their hospitalizations
