    Police ID Warwick hit-and-run victims

    WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Warwick police are still searching for the vehicle that hit two people in the area of Route 2 , killing one and severely injuring the other.

    The man who died was identified by police on Tuesday as 44-year-old Nicholas Cote of Warwick, while the injured woman is 26-year-old Logan Barboza of West Warwick.

    According to police, Cote was walking on Quaker Lane around 9:40 p.m. Sunday when Barboza hit him with her vehicle. After she got out to check on him, police said a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee hit Barboza, then ran over Cote.

    Cote was pronounced dead at the scene and Barboza was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

    Police said the driver of the Jeep continued down Route 2.
